Michael L. Kenaga is a partner in the Intellectual Property Practice Group. Mr. Kenaga counsels clients on a variety of patent, trademark, copyright and other intellectual property law matters. He is a registered patent attorney and his patent practice experience includes advising and counseling businesses and entrepreneurs, as well as other law firms, on patentability and infringement opinions, and the preparation, filing and prosecution of domestic and foreign patent applications in the electrical and mechanical arts, including medical devices, software programs, cellular communications, magnetic resonance imaging, integrated circuit device fabrication, various electronic devices, power and lighting circuits, aircraft power systems, control circuits for road-construction vehicles and oil and gas exploration technology. Mr. Kenaga also has substantial experience in intellectual property due diligence in connection with client's acquisitions of companies and product lines.

Mr. Kenaga has been active with various associations, including as Chair of the Intellectual Property Committee of the Chicago Bar Association and was Treasurer of the Intellectual Property Law Association of Chicago, as well as Chair of its Foreign Patent Committee. Mr. Kenaga is also a frequent speaker and has lectured on occasion to the foreign patent class in the graduate patent program of The John Marshall Law School, assisted European legal officers with presentations on the use of PCT international applications, and lectured to the Patent Committee of the Oklahoma State Bar Association regarding the impact of GATT on patent practice.

Mr. Kenaga attended DeVry Institute where he received a B.S. in Electronics Engineering Technology. Prior to law school, he worked as an electrical engineer in private industry and for a military and government contractor. He received his J.D. at The John Marshall Law School. He was admitted to the Illinois State Bar in 1990, as well as the Bars of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Illinois, and is registered to practice before the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
